HOLDING ROYAL MAIL TO ACCOUNT

Despite repeated assurances from Royal Mail, I'm still hearing that the postal service here in Southend West and Leigh is not working for a large number of people.

I'm working hard to hold Royal Mail to account, and want to hear from YOU about your experiences of this vital service.

Meeting with Blair McDougall MP, the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State in the Department for Business and Trade to discuss the experiences of constituents facing Royal Mail delays.

Public Meeting, 1 April 2026

After calling for a meeting with Royal Mail in the House of Commons on 11 March, I was pleased to be joined by Adam Pestell and Samantha Exton in Southend for a Public Meeting on 1 April.

We heard some positive signals from Royal Mail, but today I’ve written to them to set out my ongoing concerns and to call for clear commitments. These are essential to ensure accountability and to help get the postal service back on track.

Meetings with Management, 2025-26

From June 2025 onwards, I have received a high volume of casework regarding Royal Mail delays, amounting to around 90 separate cases by July 2026.

From June 2025, I have engaged with senior Royal Mail representatives, including meeting with the Regional Operations Director, as well as Government ministers to push for updates and answers.

It is unfortunate that despite repeated assurances and brief periods of improvement, the levels of service remain poor.
