As well as celebrating the Shrimpers winning the FA Trophy, we saw the conclusion of my Miles for Lives campaign, and a brand new role in Government!

My May Roundup!
As always, May was a very busy month with work in both Westminster and Southend West & Leigh. Here are SIX highlights of this month's work!
Shrimper Success!

It was electric to be at Wembley on 17 May to watch Southend beat Wealdstone and win the FA Trophy - their first ever domestic trophy!
Whilst you never ever want your team to go to penalties, the Shrimpers showed calm despite the tension and secured the win! Well done Shrimpers!

Taking Up A New Role
I was delighted to have been promoted to Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Department for Health and Social Care, supporting the Secretary of State and the amazing team of ministers. I feel deeply honoured to have been given this role and will be using it to benefit Southend West & Leigh.

Concluding Miles For Lives
After walking the boundary of the Southend West and Leigh constituency in September 2025 and raising £1,250 for life-saving bleed control kits, this month saw me deliver a large number of the eleven kits this money funded to our local secondary schools!
It was great to spend some time chatting with Eastwood Academy, Belfairs Academy, Westcliff High School for Girls, and Victory Park Academy; these schools join Chase High School and St Thomas More School who have already been donated kits through Miles for Lives!
Youth Day

This month, I hosted a brilliant Youth Day alongside the Southend United Community Foundation, where pupils from six local schools presented Dragon's Den-style pitches on issues that matter to them, from job opportunities to mental health and wellbeing!

Walking and Talking
On 15 May, I held my second Walk & Talk event alongside the fantastic Andy's Man Club, focussing on supporting better men's mental health support and outcomes. Open to everyone, my Walk & Talk events are an opportunity for anyone who'd like something to do, someone to chat to, or something to be a part of to meet new people and get some exercise.

Casework Wins
Across May, my team and I helped constituents with over 610 new cases and answered more than 1,320 emails. Particular highlights included securing the return of three separate driving licenses for constituents after severe delays, helping recover £127,000 from a constituent's bank after they were scammed, and holding another of my regular coffee mornings at Leigh Road Baptist Church.
