June Roundup!
Every month, I'm out and about across Southend West and Leigh as well as working hard in Westminster as your voice in Parliament.
As well as voting on new legislation to improve people's lives here at home and across the country, I'm also meeting brilliant local people and championing local voices.
Here's what I got up to recently!

My June Roundup!
As always, June was a very busy month with work in both Westminster and Southend West & Leigh - and even Wembley! Here are SIX highlights of this month's work!
Supporting the Shrimpers!
1
Southend United made it to Wembley! Up against Oldham Athletic in the National League Final, it was a fantastic atmosphere and we were all so proud of our team for having made it so far after such a difficult few years. Whilst it wasn't meant to be this time, I know it's onwards and upwards!

Facing the Future
I really enjoyed popping into West Leigh Junior School's Careers Day to chat about my job and answer some of the hardest questions I've ever been asked! I was also able to tell them about how Labour's making sure that up to 3,920 more children locally get free school meals!
3
Committee Completed!
It's been a very personal and important experience being a part of the Mental Health Bill Committee, and this month saw the completion of our work. Coming together with colleagues from different political parties, I'm confident that this new Bill will improve our care of people at their most vulnerable.
Honouring a Local Legend
4
All aboard the Wilko Johnson train! I thoroughly enjoyed being a small part of the inaugural journey of the new train named after the much-loved and missed musician and actor. With performers giving us a snippet of the new "Wilko: Love, Death and Rock 'N' Roll" production, it was a great occasion!

Tough Decisions
Whilst being an MP comes with great opportunities to connect with local people and community groups, and vote on fantastic legislation to improve the country, it also comes with a huge responsibility. This month, I voted for the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill, which passed its third reading. You can read my full statement here.

Casework Wins
In June, my team and I helped constituents with over 825 new cases and answered more than 1,500 emails. Particular highlights included helping constituents successfully appeal parking fines, providing support and advice to young people with Student Finance concerns, and securing a new replacement bus shelter on Leigh Road.
